Video – working with Dalits (untouchables) in India with LAFTI

We spent most of our time in Tamil Nadu, India working with Land for Tiller’s Freedom, LAFTI.
Check out this short video to learn more about the Dalit people and how they are overcoming the social injustice of the caste system. They are incredible people, and thanks in part to LAFTI, they are getting the opportunity to build better lives for themselves.
The music – this song was sung during the decades of non-violent struggles that still go on today to enforce land laws and to set the conditions for Dalit families to buy one acre of land each to support themselves – I can’t get it out of my head. I wish I knew the words so I could sing along!

Great job! They seem like my extended family–thanks.
That was beautiful and brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for helping them and thank you for helping me to be eternally grateful for what I have and so often take for granted.
Thanks, Em! You are such a beautiful person. I am so proud to have you as a close friend! -Teresa
