VIDEO: Welcomed to India by the talented children of CI-Sahay

We traveled to India to volunteer for Children international – Sahay and to visit out sponsored child, Tajmira. We expected to find sponsorship centers doling out medical care, food assistance to children in need and other basic care needed to live a healthy life.
What we found were vibrant centers that not only address health and nutrition needs, but offer language, computer and cultural education programs just to name a few and have developed youth groups that are very active in the community.
Just take a look at the You Tube videos below to see the dance performances these children put on when we arrived.
Note there are two version – choose “Original” if you want to hear the music they performed to, or “Jai Ho” if you want the “music video” version.
They also performed short plays and read poetry. I wish I could perform the way they do! They took such pride in their dress, dance and musical abilities. It was wonderful to be there and experience their energy and enthusiasm!
As part of one of the classes we are teaching at CI-Sahay, the teens are making their own video to show what their lives are like in Kolkata, India
Check back on our website or on the Round the World with Us You Tube channel in late February 2011 to see it.

Nice video. I loved the “music video” version. Very cool effects. I can’t wait to see what the sponsored youth put together with your help.
Me too, Damon. We had our first computer skills / video-making class yesterday and the children were very excited. We were supposed to have 12 to 15 children, but there was so much enthusiasm, we are going to have about 60 teens participating!
