A Day in Kitui, Kenya – complete with motorcycle rides!

I never knew bread with jam could be such a treat!
After living without much electricity, running water or internet access, and eating rice and beans at most every meal, this day in Kitui was so much fun! We ate a variety of food as a late breakfast, shopped and worked in the afternoon, Jennifer got her hair done in corn rows (looks very cool!) and then we took boda-bodas (motorcycle taxis) to a restaurant nearby. The boda boda ride was SO MUCH FUN!
A striking resemblance
Truth be told – one of the showers was either scalding hot or or freezing cold with very little water coming out…then we had no water during most of the rest of the day – but, hey, it was still a lot of fun, and we had electricity most of the time. We aren’t complaining!
Here is a short video of our day:

How long did it take for all of those corn rows?
A couple of hours. I spent that time watching the woman’s three-year-old daughter run around their salon, attempting to rip down posters, playing with hair products, and getting her hair washed by her older sisters. She was a cutie pie. :)
