Groton Dunstable Regional School District
GDRSD Mission Statement:The Groton-Dunstable Regional School District, in cooperation with the parents and the community, is committed to providing the best possible education for each student. It is our responsibility to promote in each child a spirit of inquiry and to instill a self-sustaining desire for continuous growth and service to self, family and community.
The District is partnering with Round the World with Us to provide engaging real world content to its students, particularly in its geography and world history classes. The teachers are providing guidance to Round the World with Us so that we can provide suitable content that meets curriculum standards in the State of Massachusetts. This content can be modified by teachers in other states to meet their own state standards.
Students learning geography and world history will follow our travels and we will use the content requested by their teachers, including video and podcasts, in the classroom and for homework assignments. Since Alex, Bella, Jennifer and Meagan will write about their experiences, the culture of the places we will visit, and about world affairs issues such as access to health care, food and clean water as we live in areas greatly affected by these issues, students will be able to learn about these important subjects from the perspective of their peers.
Students in various classrooms are also considering adopting projects and creating their own ways of raising some funds. We feel this is an important way to engage students first hand in world affairs issues and empower them to make a difference.
