Amsterdam

When most people think “Amsterdam” the first things that come to mind are prostitution and marijuana. In fact, that was all I knew about it prior to our visit there. That’s one of the reasons I thought removing it from our itinerary wouldn’t be that big of a deal. That, and Amsterdam was kind of out of the way for us. But I learned during our short stay there that there is more to Amsterdam than just weed and strippers!
My favorite thing that we did during our day and a half in Amsterdam was visit the house that Anne Frank and her family hid in during WWII. It was such a neat experience being able to walk through the same rooms that she did; seeing marks on the wall from how much she’d grown, and pictures from old magazines that she’d pasted to the wall to make it more home-like. I think we all learned a lot- I know I did! Bella’s even doing a report on Anne Frank for one of her school assignments now.
Another thing that we did in Amsterdam that I really liked was the canal cruise! Seeing the city on a canal cruise really gives you a different perspective of it. We were especially fortunate in Amsterdam because the weather turned nice while we were on the cruise, and we were able to see things in the warm sunshine, instead of the rain we saw during the rest of our stay there.
All in all our whirlwind adventure in Amsterdam was worth the drive J

Glad to hear about your visit to the Anne Frank museum/house. Hopefully you don’t have any “weed or stripper” stories to share…unless those come later. LOL! Your Amsterdam pictures are fantastic. I can’t wait to hear about Rome and what it is that “when in Rome do as the Romans do” means…..
Haha I have no weed or stripper stories to tell, which is strange for most people that visit Amsterdam! Haha but Rome is Fantastic! We’re working on a lot of administrative stuff right now, but we’ll have more recent posts up as soon as we can! Thanks for keeping posted
Meagan,
I am having fun following your adventures, but, still wish I were there!!
