Brussels

I didn’t have very high expectations for our short stay in Brussels.  My entire knowledge about Belgium could be summed up in two words: chocolate and waffles.  But after our stay there, I can say there is much more to Brussels than sweet treats, and I would highly recommend it as a place to visit!

Although our stay in Brussels was a short one, it was one of my favorite places we’ve visited so far!  The “vibe” of the whole city was much different than Moscow or Paris.  Brussels was a real mixture of people and cultures from all over the world.  46% of the people living in Brussels were originally from somewhere else!  With such a wide variety of people, many languages were spoken- we saw advertisements in English, French, and Dutch!

The architecture in Brussels also seemed to be spread far and wide.  They had all sorts of building styles, from beautiful old buildings to more modern office buildings, all right on top of each other.  It wasn’t necessarily pretty, but it was unique.  I have yet to see a place with so many different building styles.

One of my favorite things we did during our stay there was our visit to Kebab Street.  It was a street filled with people and restaurants, with tables out on the sidewalks and all the waiters trying to lure in passerby’s.   It was awesome!  The food was excellent, and the people watching was great!  It was definitely worth visiting.

Brussels was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed our short stay there!
