Setting up the Non-Profit

I am about to board a plane from San Francisco to Boston to go home after visiting Doug for the weekend.  Doug and I wrote up the Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws for Change a Life; Change Your World last night.  I feel SO FORTUNATE that this is all starting to come together!  We are also setting up a board of trustees to oversee the non-profit, which is one of the many great things about starting a new organization – you get to invite people whom you have always admired to help with a great cause.  It’s a chance to bring together some of the brightest and most giving people we know to do something good in the word – what could be better?

I still struggle with being away from the kids while traveling for work.  I see them tomorrow morning from the time they wake up until they go to school, and then I am off to Peru on business for a week.  I have tried to limit these trips since I gave notice at AIA, but a tourism board in Peru (Prom Peru) is sponsoring our next AIA Gala and one of my coworkers and I need to go down to get more people and companies from Peru involved.  I will post some pictures – especially if we end up traveling to Machu Picchu and Cusco!  I will also see if I can scope out some volunteer opportunities while I am there.

The good news about spending time with the kids is that February vacation is coming up and we are going away together – and with Doug :-) for 10 days.  Hurray!  I try to keep in mind that I just have to get through the next six months of busy schedules, being the Executive Director of AIA, setting everything up for our trip, for Change a Life; Change Your World, and for home schooling and then I will be able to spend 24/7 with the kids for an entire year :-)

I hope you like our website so far.  I am going to try to get someone involved who has expertise in web building and design.  In the meantime, I am learning as much as I can.  If you have any suggestions, please comment.

    Dear Teresa,
I am so happy and honored to be friends with you (for how many years? 10?). I have seen you through so many phases of your life – good and bad – and you keep astounding me with your love, compassion and growing wisdom. Your light is one I love to stand near. You go girl! I’ll be watching and thinking good thoughts, saying prayers and sending positive vibes to you and yours. I love you girl…

Thanks, Em. I feel the same way about you! Over the years, you have always inspired me to try to do the next thing and stay on target with what really matters. You are such a wonderful person.

Hey Em, I was just thinking…maybe we can get some students at Kent School involved in raising funds for one item at an orphanage, etc. Is there a suitable student club? Also, with some people pledging per website visitor, if they just check in and follow our travels, they will be helping. -T

On second thought, re: my email to you – I will contact the person here who heads all of our fund-raising efforts for non-profits. I’ll put her on to you site. :D
